Core business:The firm General Motors, of which Opel is apart, was founded in 1908 in the United States. A mere 15 years later, the company expanded into Europe. Today, Opel is a leading brand among European automobile distributors.

On January 31, 1991, Opel C & S entered the Czech market. It began its import activities with 11
distributors. In 1991, 1992, 1995, 1996, 1999 and 2000 Opel was the No 1 passenger car importer on the Czech market. The firm has grown to where there are now 32 authorized dealers in the Czech and Slovak Republics and 52 outlets.

Since entering the Czech and Slovak markets, Corsa, Astra, Astra Classic, Meriva Zafira, Vectra, Signum, Agila and an extensive Commercial Vehicle range have been among the best-selling vehicles in their respective segments. Corsa and Astra are the company's best-selling models whilst the new Zafira, with its ingenious 7 seater concept, is bringing considerable excitement and interest to the fast-growing multi-purpose vehicle segment. Zafira won Czech Car of the Year in the year 2000 in three categories: journalists´ contest, readers´ contest, and phone contest. In 2002, Opel has fired off a salvo in the midsize class segment launching the all-new Vectra, following by a new and tempting sports model, the coupé-style Vectra GTS sport sedan. Opel introduced a world premier in business-class vehicles when in launched well accepted Signum, bringing ample space & comfort especially on rear seats. Stylish, practical and as comfortable and safe as a passenger car – the Opel Vivaro has set new standards in the light commercial vehicle market. Europe´s "International Van of the Year 2002" is available as a "Combi" people carrier and a panel van.
GM activities in the Czech Republic are not limited solely to sales. The company's purchasing department has successfully sourced parts from Czech suppliers for the production of both General Motors and Opel automobiles on a worldwide scale. These production activities are rooted in various branches of the Czech automotive industry, with turnover today in billions of Czech crowns.

After seven years of activity on the Czech leasing market GMAC (General Motors Acceptance Corporation) has become one of the leading leasing companies according to turnover and successfully completing its range of financing products for Opel and Chevrolet customers. Among the usual leasing products (FixLeasing © and leasing of used cars, operating lease), there is the new concept of a loan (called FixCredit ©) now provided by Opel and Chevrolet dealers. GMAC, which is also active in Slovakia, is a wholly owned subsidiary of the General Motors Corporation with operations in 21 countries in Europe and 40 worldwide.

GM Southeast Europe also represents another fresh member of the GM family – Chevrolet. Chevrolet came up with a whole new range of exciting products and moreover introduced a totally new quality aspect., well recognized by professionals. Practical and fresh Spark, striking design Italian Kalos, brand new Pinninfarina design Lacetti, family Tacuma and elegant Evanda from the family of Chevrolet.
