The company received its license for operating a GSM 900/1800 network on October 8, 1999. In 2000, Vodafone Czech Republic (at that time Oskar) became the fastest growing operator and set a new record in the history of GSM after successfully providing signal coverage for 98 percent of the population. The company launched its commercial operations on March 1, 2000. Two years after commencing commercial activities, Vodafone Czech Republic (Oskar) was regarded as the most progressive and most customer-oriented company in the Czech Republic according to the "Corporate Image Sensor" survey. During the same year, the operator gained its millionth customer. In 2004, the Czech Top 100 chart as the most dynamic firm of the year and made prices for calls to all networks uniform.
