Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu (Deloitte) is pleased to present the second annual Global Powers of the Consumer Products Industry. This report identifies the 250 largest consumer products companies around the world based on publicly available data for the companies’ fiscal year 2007 (encompasses fiscal years ended through June 2008). The report also provides an outlook for the global economy; a discussion of major challenges affecting consumer products companies; the strategic implications of these challenges; and an analysis of market capitalization in the industry.

As the global economy shifted in 2007 from relatively strong growth, to deceleration and on to modest recession in early 2008, consumers cut back on their spending and turned to discount retailers in ever increasing numbers, according to a new report, 2009 Global Powers of Retail, from Deloitte in conjunction with STORES Magazine.

Trends of the Czech retail

Based on a Christmas survey carried out by Deloitte, a Big 4 consulting firm, this year Czechs will spend more time thinking through their Christmas purchases. The study, which presents an outlook of expected Christmas spending in 16 European countries, shows that Czechs are hesitant about spending, namely because of higher food prices and increasing energy costs.

Deloitte has published its latest survey on the outlook for Xmas 2008 consumer spending. This eleventh edition of the survey covers 16 European countries and one African country, South Africa, whose patterns of consumer spending are comparable with the other countries surveyed. We have also performed a similar survey for the American market.
