A record number of 579 projects in the ninth edition of T-Mobile Takeoffs

Company: T-Mobile Czech Republic a.s.

  • The largest number of applications are from Prague and South Moravia

  • A large number of environmentally friendly ideas

  • Free seminars for beginning entrepreneurs start on 26 March

Nearly six hundred projects have been registered by beginning entrepreneurs in the ninth edition of T-Mobile Takeoffs. As in past editions, the largest number of projects originated in Prague, where 137 projects will compete, followed by South Moravia (68) and Central Bohemia (64). This year, the competing entrepreneurs, most of whom are in the 25-34 age category, want to do business in design and leisure activities and products. Additionally, a lot of technical projects, applications and innovative use of drones and IoT will also try to win the favour of the jury. In March and April, expert juries will select the best projects in the regional rounds. The names of two national winners will be announced on 30 May.

The number of beginning entrepreneurs that will compete in the ninth edition of T-Mobile Takesoffs is nearly one-fifth larger than in the previous edition. Nearly half (46%) of the competing entrepreneurs are in the 25-34 age category. “We were surprised at how many applications involved ideas inspired by the circular economy,” says Eva Karasová, CSR Manager at T-Mobile, unveiling the projects. “The projects include several packaging-free shops, eco-friendly napkins and straws, unique honey packaging, flower and herb farms and reusable shipping boxes.”

The regional rounds of the competition will now take place. Juries composed of experts, successful entrepreneurs and investors, such as Margareta Křížová and Martin Korman, will judge not only innovative ideas but also the successful implementation of each entrant’s business plan. At workshops that will be held between 26 March and 17 April (a list of dates and cities can be found here), hundreds of beginning entrepreneurs can receive consultancy in the areas of finance and marketing. The workshops are open to everybody interested in doing business. All they need to do is register on the website at www.rozjezdy.cz

Forty-two regional winners will win prizes worth nearly CZK 3.5 million in total. The prizes include financial support for starting a business, packages of services and tangible prizes that are necessary for doing business. Two national winners will be selected from among the regional winners – one winner will be selected by the jury, the other by the public. This year, the overall winner will receive prizes worth CZK 716,524 in total, including a financial donation of CZK 250,000 from T-Mobile, a creative draft of an advertising campaign, consultancy and tangible prizes from the partners of the competition. The results will be announced on 30 May.
