Dentons and Wolters Kluwer launch Commentary on criminal liability of companies in the Czech Republic

On April 18, 2018 Dentons and Wolters Kluwer publishing house officially launched the second revised edition of the “Commentary on criminal liability of companies act”. The book, published in Czech language, was co-authored by Judge Jaroslav Fenyk from the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, Dentons partner Ladislav Smejkal, Head of the Criminal Law practice in Prague, and Advocate Irena Bílá. 

The commentary addresses the most significant legislative changes introduced over the last year, including the list of offenses to which companies can commit, as well as the attribution of criminal offenses to legal entities. The book also explores the new legal regulation to evolve from criminal liability of legal entities and the new regulation on administrative punishment pursuant to Act No. 250/2016 Coll., on Liability for Offenses and Proceedings.

In the book, the authors also recommend internal compliance management measures that companies can take in order to prevent criminal activity.

Professor Dagmar Císařová, a leading expert on criminal law in the Czech Republic, gave the opening address at the book launch. The event was attended by representatives of Dentons, Wolters Kluwer, major financial institutions, Czech legal media, the Czech Bar Association, Charles University, the High Court in Prague, and the Police Academy.
