Erste Group is merging its IT companies to create one of the largest IT services companies in Austria and the CEE region. s IT Solutions Austria and Erste Group IT International will be merged and operate as Erste Digital as of 1 July 2021. Over 2,000 employees from 49 nationalities will work for Erste Digital in ensuring that Erste Group’s customers continue to benefit from innovative digital solutions that help them handle their banking needs and build prosperity.
“Erste Digital is the Core team essential to driving Erste Group’s widely-recognized digital offerings, including our banking platform George,” said David O´Mahony, COO of Erste Group and chairman of Erste Digital’s supervisory board. “Customers will benefit from the reliability, focused delivery and innovation that our new group-wide set-up for IT solutions provides.”
Ensuring digital delivery excellence for 16 million customers
Erste Digital is responsible for developing, implementing and running the IT solutions used by Erste Group’s over 16 million customers. The core customer-facing business solutions that Erste Digital enables span across the retail, SME, and corporates & markets segments and include George, the digital financial companion used by more than 6.5 million people.

Erste Digital is headquartered in newly-constructed tower offices adjacent to Erste Campus and Vienna’s main train station. The large majority of its IT experts are based in Vienna and Bratislava, but Erste Digital also has offices in Innsbruck and Prague. Erste Digital’s roots date back over 50 years to the founding of SPARDAT in 1968 to run the data processing service center of the Austrian Savings Banks.
