International law firm White & Case celebrates 30-year anniversary of its presence in the Czech Republic

Company: White & Case, s.r.o., advokátní kancelář

White & Case LLP, the leading global law firm, has occasion this year to celebrate the 30-year anniversary of its presence on the Czech market and the 120-year anniversary of its New York office.

“First and foremost, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our clients – it is thanks to them that we may celebrate 30 years of our presence in the Czech Republic.  A huge thank you is also owed to all former and present colleagues – they have helped propel White & Case in the Czech Republic to the absolute top of the field, creating a law firm that is respected by clients and competitors alike and a prestigious brand that attracts the biggest talents among law school students,” said Petr Pánek, executive partner of the Prague office.

The Prague office decided to celebrate its anniversary by bestowing a gift on the next generation of Czech classical musicians.  During a gala dinner held on 4 November 2021 at Lobkowicz Palace within the Prague Castle complex, Petr Pánek gave a 1904 violin built by eminent Czech luthier K.B. Dvořák to the Music and Dance Faculty of the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (HAMU).  The school will make this unique instrument available to its most promising students on a loan basis.

“As the Dean of HAMU, I am delighted to see that the need to support young Czech artists in their professional growth is felt by others who share our views.   On behalf of the entire faculty, let me say a big thank you to White & Case who, in this time and age when culture is often perceived as a non-essential thread in the fabric of society, has decided to give such a lavish gift,” added professor Ivan Klánský, dean of HAMU.

Since its inception in 1991, the Prague office has advised more than two thousand clients; its lawyers were involved in practically all the ground-breaking transactions in the country, from the privatization projects for Škoda Auto, Česká spořitelna, and Transgas, to the first-ever IPO in the Czech market (which marked Zentiva’s entry on the Prague stock exchange), to the first wave of large-scale restructurings after the 2008 financial crisis.  Among other things, lawyers of White & Case played a role in the fantastic growth and cross-border expansion of such industry greats as PPF Group, CTP, or Avast.

In the field of charitable activities, White & Case is a long-term supporter of the Good Angel foundation and the non-profit organization Post Bellum.
