Literacy contest: What does happiness mean to you

5.12.2018
Company: International School of Brno

Thirty teenage students from Brno elementary schools, including the International School of Brno, took part in an essay-writing competition "What does happiness mean to you?". The winning essays are attached below.

Some quotes follow.

„We should make a conscious effort to try to see the positive things in the negative. I know it may be hard sometimes, but usually, in the long run, the bad times are the ones that helped us grow and evolve into the person that we are now.“

Nella Durčáková, ZŠ Bakalovo nábř.8, Brno

„I believe that happiness isn’t always about luck or money it’s about how you see world and how you react to your feelings. There may be people who will try to tell you that you shouldn’t or have no right to be sad and they may even mean it well, but it’s not quite true.

Ester Ráčková, ZŠ Slovanské náměstí, Brno

The International School of Brno was established in 2008 as a non-profit organization in the Czech Republic, with major support from Brno town hall and the South-Moravian regional office. Our aim is to provide Kindergarten to High School students from all over the world with the necessary tools to become committed, lifelong learners and responsible, engaged citizens of the world.

ISB is an IB World School as well as a member of the Council of International Schools (CIS), Cambridge International Education (CIE) and the Council of British International Schools (COBIS). It is also recognized by the Czech Ministry of Education as an international elementary school.

Mission Statement:

“We learn and grow in unique ways to become lifelong learners and responsible global citizens.”
