As of September, Omar Sattar, a real estate professional with more than 25 years of experience in the sector at companies like DTZ, Avestus Capital Partners, and Colliers International, has taken over the management of the real estate investment team of the Czech and Slovak investment platform Crowdberry. The company now provides private investors with a greater volume of specific investment opportunities in high-quality residential projects and commercial real estate.
Crowdberry to date has specialized in investing in the equity of companies. Over the past five years, the firm has helped five hundred private investors invest in fifteen companies, such as Footshop, GymBeam, and Ecocapsule, with investments worth 24 million Euros. At the same time, it manages an investment fund worth more than 23 million Euros supporting young Slovak companies. A similar principle of equity investing is applied to real estate sector. In so doing, Crowdberry makes it possible for individuals to own a share in a specific real estate development, or existing commercial project, which sets the platform apart from most current real estate investment possibilities. A key element of Crowdberry's real estate investment platform is that it helps its investors to co-invest with an experienced development partner. On the one hand the selected development partner can access a new source of equity and project ambassadors, while on the other, the investors help the developer grow and participate on its success.
Omar Sattar is an experienced real estate industry professional and a qualified chartered surveyor (MRICS) of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. He comes from Scotland; however, has spent the vast majority of his professional career (since 1997) in Central and Eastern Europe. Omar is also an independent board member of the CPI Property Group.
“Crowdberry is a pioneer and leader in providing equity financing for growing Czech and Slovak firms and has significantly changed the ways private investors are able to access interesting investment opportunities. My goal is to build the same position for the company in the real estate segment. Leveraging Crowdberry's experience in co-investment structuring and their comprehensive control mechanisms in real estate projects will deliver interesting, previously unavailable investment opportunities with higher returns than the standard real estate offerings,” explain Omar Sattar on the reasons why he decided to join the Crowdberry team.
Crowdberry’s real estate team carefully selects investment opportunities in partnership with proven developers who create quality and beneficial real estate projects in a transparent, neighborhood-friendly way. Such cooperation then allows private investors to co-own real estate projects in their immediate surroundings.
“Omar is an excellent addition to our team, mainly due to his managerial and real estate experience. Our ambition is to bring even more investment know-how and innovative approaches to financing—just as we did with Footshop, Sensoneo, Akular, and Ecocapsule— to the real estate segment. Omar shares the values on which our firm was built—transparency, fairness and professionalism—as well as our absolute focus on the needs of our clients and our ‘extra-mile’ DNA,” commented Peter Bečár, Crowdberry Partner.
