Opel continues the rapid integration of Groupe PSA technology, in accordance with the PACE! strategic plan. Following the announcement that the Engineering team in Rüsselsheim will lead development of Groupe PSA Light Commercial Vehicles and the allocation of 15 Centers of Competence at the Opel headquarters, Opel will introduce Groupe PSA connectivity services in Europe. Consequently, the brand will simultaneously start phasing out GM-owned OnStar technology, to be completed by the end of 2020.
Named Opel Connect, the new connectivity services will be introduced on Opel passenger cars and light commercial vehicles beginning in 2019. One of the first models to feature Opel Connect will be the next generation Corsa, which Opel will also produce as a battery electric vehicle. Besides an emergency call, the connectivity offer will include connected navigation, vehicle diagnostics, stolen vehicle assistance, remote vehicle access and fleet management capabilities, as well as Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.[1] By 2024, Opel Connect will be available across the entire Opel model range.
While introducing Opel Connect, customers that wish to continue to purchase services from OnStar can rest assured that they may continue to receive the same level of OnStar services from OnStar Europe Limited until the end of 2020.
