PwC CEE to serve as founding member of the Emerging Europe Alliance for Business Services, Innovation and Technology

4.04.2018
Company: PricewaterhouseCoopers Česká republika, s.r.o.

PwC in Central and Eastern Europe and the Emerging Europe Alliance for Business Services, Innovation and Technology (“the Alliance”) have announced that PwC will join the Alliance as a founding member.

The agreement was announced at the Sourcing in Emerging Europe conference, which was held in London on March 28th. Adam Jamioł, PwC CEE partner responsible for the firm’s Shared Services Centre (SSC) Advisory practice was a speaker on two panels during the event, during which he discussed recent trends and developments in the sector.

Adam Jamioł, Partner at PwC in Central and Eastern Europe, says:

“At PwC, we believe that shared service centres have an important role to play in driving the development and economic success of Central and Eastern Europe. There is a clear trend of shared service centres in our region moving up the value chain: from advantage based largely on wage arbitrage to value creation through innovation. In many ways, we see the emergence of our region as the 'high-end back office' of Europe and beyond.

We do a lot of work helping our clients to take advantage of opportunities in this sector right across our region and also make use of the shared delivery model for our own internal strategy. That is why we are pleased to serve as a founding partner of the Sourcing in Emerging Europe Alliance”.

The Alliance is a membership organization whose ultimate aim is to foster innovation and creativity across emerging Europe. It seeks to promote the collective strength of talent, technology and service capability of the wider region whilst at the same time facilitating each country in showcasing their unique value proposition. There are already more than 1 000 centres in the region, providing their services in over 40 languages.

At the same time businesses face more and more challenges in setting up their centres - as indicated in PwC's global “Shared Services: Multiplying success” report.  The main challenges revolve around increasing complexity of operations, finding the right location and employing relevant talent. PwC's SSC Advisory practice, one of the largest of its kind in the market, helps clients deal with those challenges and has gathered extensive experience in the field, serving dozens of companies in a variety of sectors.

Andrew Wrobel, Head of Content Strategy and Publishing, Emerging Europe:

"We are very pleased to welcome PwC Central and Eastern Europe on board as a founding member of the Alliance. PwC is well known as an innovative, leading advisor to organisations in this sector. Their practice in CEE is active throughout the region. We look forward to engaging with PwC CEE on opportunities and latest developments in the areas of business services, innovation and technology".

PwC itself has good experience with setting up its own internal Shared Delivery Centres (SDCs). They have established SDCs in Kazan, Russia, and Poland (Katowice and Opole), which provide services for PwC audit, tax and advisory projects. The Katowice SDC alone employs more than 1 700 people serving over 50 countries across the PwC network. Following their success in this space, PwC CEE has decided to open another center in Lviv, Ukraine.

The PwC Service Delivery Centre in Lviv will be the first of its kind in Ukraine.  The SDC is being established to carry out a wide range of professional services tasks for audit, tax and advisory projects across PwC CEE.

The Lviv SDC plans to employ more than 350 professionals, providing excellent working conditions as well as unique educational and career opportunities for young talent from all over the country.
