The international law firm Taylor Wessing is getting ready to celebrate its success in the Czech Republic, where it began working in 1998, at that time as the leading Austrian law firm of e|n|w|c Advokati. In 2012, the firm merged with a global player on the market, the law firm Taylor Wessing, and became a gateway to Central and Eastern Europe. The newly established entity in the Czech Republic at first took the name TaylorWessing e|n|w|c Advokáti, and later became simply Taylor Wessing Prague.
Erwin Hanslik, Taylor Wessing Prague managing partner, adds: "Success in the field of advocacy in the Czech Republic, of course, pleases us, and we are committed to continuing to provide only perfect and highly professional services. Over the past 12 months, we have executed transactions for our clients with a total value of more than 8 billion crowns. We hope and expect to remain among the major law firms here for many more years to come, as one of the best linguistically equipped law firms, with international facilities of 32 offices around the world. What characterizes us above all is the strong representation of real estate clients and many transactions carried out in the framework of cross-border cooperation, not only within the entire Taylor Wessing network."
For 2018, Taylor Wessing Praha was ranked by the prestigious The Legal 500: Europe, Middle East & Africa as a recommended office in the Czech Republic for the areas of COMMERCIAL, CORPORATE, M & A and REAL ESTATE AND CONSTRUCTION.
In the World Trademark Review WTR1000 for the year 2018, Taylor Wessing ranked second in Prague in the international category. This recognition was awarded for outstanding business know-how in providing full legal services in the protection of Trademarks, and thanks to close collaboration with specialist colleagues in other departments. Lawyers in the area of Intellectual Property were recognized for meeting specific targets in this area. The firm’s legal practice in the IP field was further strengthened with the arrival in 2015 of experienced lawyer Karin Pomaizlová. She was singled out for individual recognition, namely with a silver medal. The jury appreciated her perceptive advice in protecting client portfolios protection and points to her agility in criminal and civil proceedings against those who had infrigned trademarks.
The Prague office of Taylor Wessing is involved intensively in education, presentations and consultations in the IT sector, especially as regards the new EU Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), helping companies implement it into the corporate structure.
In 2017, Taylor Wessing Praha was ranked as a recommended law firm in three categories in the prestigious 10th Year of the LAW FIRM OF THE YEAR, in the areas of Dispute Resolution and Arbitration; Intellectual Property; and Labor Law.
In the Czech Republic, the firm currently has 23 lawyers and is part of the family of Taylor Wessing law firms, which are based in many continents. Also significant for the law firm have been transactions in the fields of labor law, intellectual property and corporate law. What also characterizes us is that our firm is made up almost 50% of women, and not just trainees, but also Taylor Wessing Prague associates, lawyers and full partners. At the same time, our teams are getting ever more creative and delivering our clients victories in a great many transactions.
We have embarked on the path of educating younger generations, and regularly hold lectures and presentations in schools not just about law, but also about the legal profession in real life. We continue to pursue our successful Literary Competition for Students of Law Faculties in the Czech Republic, with 2018 marking the sixth year it’s been held. In particular, these efforts aim to encourage young lawyers to join in discussions of theory and practice.
Furthermore, our law firm is dedicated to sports, especially marathon runs. Within the entire network, Taylor Wessing organizes the participation of lawyers in both individual and team events, such as relay races, above all in Prague and in Vienna.
At the same time, we do not underestimate the benefits of preparing for all sports events and have prepared as a bonus to employees year-round access to a nearby fitness centre. This year, the office has already taken part already in the Vienna City Marathon.
