SEMINAR INVITATION - 13. 10. 2011 - Open Source Software - Reactive and Proactive Governance Solutions

2011-10-13 00:00:00
Company: Bird & Bird s.r.o. advokátní kancelář
Address:
We are increasingly seeing clients using open source software as part of their software development activities and within new business models and product architecture. For these organisations it is extremely important to understand licence compatibility issues and conflict associated with aggregating different open source components and libraries licensed under incompatible licences. That's why we developed governance solutions allowing organisations to successfully use and distribute open source software alongside their own proprietary software, without affecting the commercial value of their products. Mixing open source, proprietary, commercial and other third party software is a particular challenge (and benefit) for (i) companies that produce software to be sold to end customers or intermediate customers and (ii) manufacturers of devices with embedded software. In the seminar, we will highlight why these two groups have special requirements and what they have done to address these.

Our seminar will provide you answers for following questions:

1. What open source software are we using?
2. What are the relevant open source software licences and their requirements?
3. How are we using the open source software?
4. How can we introduce open source software into our organisation?
5. How to plan, implement and execute the open source software strategy?

We expect that our seminar will be of special interest to CIOs, CTOs, other members of management, inhouse lawyers and all who participate in the development and implementation of software.
