Prague Proms continues its build up and the new season brings two main series and two just a little less main ones. The festival opens on June 16 with the Open Air Hollywood Night at the Wenceslas Square, and the last event – the concert performance of Tosca with Stefanna Kybalová in the title role – will close the 2013 Prague Proms at the Municipal House on July 20. One of the main partners of the festival is Citibank Europe.

Libor Pešek, the CNSO Chief Conductor and one of Czech greatest conductors. The concert at Prague Proms will celebrate his 80th birthday. The jazz series, on the other hand, brings you the pre-eminent jazz artist of our time Wynton Marsalis and his Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra.

First time in the Czech republic, the world-renowned jazz guitarist and singer John Pizzarelli with his quartet will also appear at the jazz series. Directed by Academy Award-winning director Jan Svěrák, the world premiere of Jára Cimrman's operetta Proso (The Millet) will be introduced by Zdeněk Svěrák, the legendary Czech actor, director and producer.

A year after a stunning performance at Prague Proms, the Mnozil Brass are coming back to celebrate their 20th birthday. Performance of the world top jazzfunk-fusion the Brecker Brothers Band Reunion will be another highlight of the jazz series. An exceptional guest will be featuring at the world premiere of Steven Mercurio's „Grateful Tale” symphony. The legendary Salieri from Miloš Forman's Amadeus, the Award winning F. Murray Abraham will sing the text from Eugene O'Neill's Last Will and Testament of Silverdene Emblem O'Neill.

Markéta Irglová, the only Czech winner to have received both Oscar and Grammy awards, will star at the concert entitled Hollywood Meets Barrandov. The famous Falling Slowly will of course be on program besides e.g. scores from the Czech fantasy film The Last of Aporver, and other great film music. American saxophonist Bobby Watson is promising a great show, being a special guest of Libor Šmoldas Quartet. Other concerts include Radůza or Karel Růžička Jr., who will bring „A Message from New York”.

The festival opens on June 16 with the Open Air Hollywood Night at the Wenceslas Square, and the last event – the concert performance of Tosca with Stefanna Kybalová in the title role – will close the 2013 Prague Proms at the Municipal House on July 20.

For the first time in Prague Proms history most of the events will take place in very close venues. Besides the Municipal House, a traditional classical concerts venue, the jazz concerts will be held in the opposite Hybernia Loop Jazz Club.

Other venues include The Rudolfinum Dvořák Hall, Jazz Republic Club or The Martinů Hall of the Lichtenstein Palace.   Of course, the tight program aims to impress the Prague Proms fans as usually.

See you at the Wenceslas Square on June 16 and at other Prague Proms concerts.
